Managers to compare consultants' productivity

The Department of Health is sending data to hospital trusts that will allow them to measure consultants' activity against national rates.
The information will allow medical and human resources directors to compare consultants' work rates in 2006-07 in 10 specialties, including cardiology and trauma and orthopaedics.
