ISTC payment framework announced

The Department of Health has set out the costs it is prepared to cover as a result of last year's rescoping of the phase two independent sector treatment centre programme.

The move comes after concern about the costs incurred by private companies that successfully bid for phase 2 ISTC schemes only to see them cancelled at the last minute.

In a document setting out the framework, the DH says all payments would be ex gratia and would not form a precedent.
