Many primary care nurses have not even had basic training in cardiovascular disease, even though more people in the UK die from strokes and heart attacks than anything else, surveys have found.
An online survey of more than 800 primary care nurses found that 14 per cent had never undertaken any type of basic training in cardiovascular disease. Nearly a third of nurses (28 per cent) said they are not comfortable seeing patients with cardiovascular disease.
