The Healthcare Commission has said more trusts are declaring non-compliance with its hygiene code than did last year.

Trusts have said they are struggling with patient records, mandatory training and decontamination of equipment. There is also a slight decline in the number of trusts saying they are meeting standards around treating patients with privacy and dignity.

The commission has said it will carry out a thorough check of the accuracy of trusts' declarations.
