Comment on: HSJ100 2012: Under 'Baron' Nicholson, a new health aristocracy takes shape
I agree with Anon 8:34 the most striking thing about this list is that it is mainly white people......and most are men. This is worrying.

Comment on: GP contract: DH proposes new funding formula
Hopefully we can link payment to reducing emergency admissions and reducing avoidable contacts with the acute sector – in the States the Geisinger Healthcare system implemented a key performance measure along this line and it had a remarkable effect. This would be a great opportunity to do this but we need to get everyone to buy into it!

Comment on: 'Prime contractors' could run pathways for decade
Couple of things I like about this, firstly it makes sense (well done Bob) and offers the way forward to meeting the challanges for patients with LTCs or specfic conditions.Clearly someone has seen Porter's recent lecture on value based healthcare and needing to tie services together (West German migrane network) and also aligning incentives, which is MASSIVE if we want to get true value from the system.

Comment on: Hunt backs new standards for NHS managers
I do hope there is a commitment that stipulates that all NHS managers, Non executive leaders and GP’s must place improving population health as the number one priority. On the back of some of the interesting papers that have come out in relation to integrated care in the last couple of weeks, I think focusing on a collaborative approach to improving population health and real patient outcomes would be welcome (rather than individual and organisations reputations). We still have a lot to learn…..
