Comment on: Improving the diagnosis and referral process
Can't argue with Tom, good stuff indeed. An MSK Pathway would help. Perhaps even reduce the period of JIA/AS diagnosis from between 5/7 years to a couple of years for example?!

Comment on: Outside groups could vie with NICE over guidance
It's good to see RNIB being invoved in this way. CLASH has been involved in fruitless 2-way communication with NICE about involving Arthritis ResearchUK supporting integrated guidance for MSK conditions rather than the piecemeal offering available at present on the NICE website. National Voices support offers a way forward to monitor implementation of integrating National Charities appropriate to the different long term conditions. Indeed, this should be a responsibility of the National Charities.

Comment on: University Hospitals of Leicester faces 2pc contract cut over elective waits
Are longer waits not inevitable in the absence of a planned Pathway if commissioners withdraw local MSK community diagnostic/early intervention services? Patient frustration and earlier elective intervention result. Surely early diagnosis & intervention strategies underpin the CQUIN ethos? UHL are then penalised for these inadequacies, i.e. under CQUIN: 9. CQUIN value should be linked to each indicator and, for the national goal on patient experience, to determine the payment thresholds for rewarding provider achievement.

Comment on: Leicestershire and Rutland CCGs to take over full relevant commissioning budget
I understood that Rutland formed part of East Leicestershire CCG & there are 3 LLR CCGs in the Cluster?

Comment on: Sheffield GPs establish self-care musculoskeletal management websites
What an amazing wealth of information the site has. Why invent the wheel in parts of the NHS where this provision is unavailable, it puts the provision here in LLR to shame. Sheffield is ahead of the field - I'm sure they could build an app/s into this service. Linking such a development to the new but apparently obsolete DH 'Personal Well-being Plans' gathering dust in LLR would certainly be more than welcome here.
