  • Comment on: NHS constitution: report says staff need more enthusiasm

    Dermot Ryan's comment 26-Nov-2009 12:16 pm

The NHS constitution has about as much relevance as the date of the next solar eclipse. It will be a goldmine for lawyers when they cotton on to the fact that this is a rich seam to be mined, further diverting cash away from health care delivery.

  • Comment on: STI drive 'a waste of money' - NAO

    Dermot Ryan's comment 13-Nov-2009 3:55 pm

Not everyon wants to be screened for an STD, and PCTs and clinicians are, rightly, powerless to coerce people to have them. It is possible that increased publicity, on the TV, in Eastendes, Corry, Casualty etc might help drive the public health message accross and increase uptake. Chlamydia does have expensive consequences if undetected and untreated, but the approach to screening is not yet optimal.

It is a real shame that this administartion has sen fit to appoint someone who undersatnds rules but not health care. She is another part of dumbing down health care.
