Harald Schmidt is assistant director of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, and research associate and part-time PhD student at LSE Health. For his Harkness Fellowship he is based at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston. His research interests include comparative health policy, public health ethics and personal responsibility for health.

Public health inside and outside of the School
I like taking stairs, but must admit to having had second thoughts when I heard my office was on on the 11th floor. But then, a voice inside (that I wish I hadn’t heard) reminded me that the ground floor is already counted as the 1st floor in the US. That’s one less floor to worry about.
