Health bloggers beware
A little more hesitancy on my part. First a warning from a senior clinical leader and now published in the most recent Canadian Medical Association Journal comes a health warning about blogging.
The recommendation ultimately is don't do it, especially if you are a frustrated, tired clinician. Now I have to find that rare moment when I am not frustrated by the system and not exhausted by a consultant delivered service that will never be EWTD compliant. What is written today may seem benign today but may well bite back when least expected.
Blogging, like the internet that spawned this opportunity to practise amateur journalistic skills, seems not to have the self-regulation that we know works so well for the red top British tabloid. Does the HSJ qualify as a red top? Even a cartoon representation is no protection - my children tell me it looks like me!

Hello Nadeem,
[I tried to respond here to your very interesting post some 1,300 characters, but encountered a server error upon clicking 'Post'?]
Your post is very interesting and as a nurse and blogger gave me much to think about. I have read before about people - esp. students having myspace and similar web profiles, which are often unsurprisingly 'off-the wall'. Words and pictures published there can come back and haunt them when they apply for jobs in the future.
I ended up posting this on my own blog.
To blog or not to blog - that is the question?

Many thanks for the inspiration and best wishes with your blogging....
In fact could I please ask a question of you?
In your role to what extent have you been exposed - training, implementation... to the "Family Partnership Model" or similar ?
Kind regards
Peter Jones
