NHS East Lancashire and NHS Blackburn

NHS East Lancashire and NHS Blackburn with Darwen invite expressions of interest from all suitably qualifi ed organisations for the provision of a DEXA scan service across East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen.

This service is required so that people with symptoms of osteoporosis will receive a high quality effi cient diagnostic service delivered close to home and should be available to patients registered with East Lancashire or Blackburn with Darwen GPs.

The Provider will be expected to provide services from community locations that deliver equitable access for all East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen patients (c550000 population) and ensure appropriate integration with secondary care providers and primary care services. The Provider will demonstrate high quality clinical outcomes, improved user experience for the patient and deliver value for money for the Commissioners. The Provider will meet all national guidance for accreditation of services, facilities and those delivering the service.

The intention is for the procured service to operate from 1st November 2010. The length of the contract will be for 3 years, with the option to extend for a further 2 years (Subject to SHA approval). This procurement is being led by NHS East Lancashire.
