Calls for expression of interest for A Smoking Cessation Service for People Living with Mental Health Problems
Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust are inviting ‘Expressions of Interest’ to tender for the provision of a smoking cessation service to people who have mental health problems and who live in the borough of Tower Hamlets.
The Context
The use of tobacco products continues to be a serious public health issue for the people of Tower Hamlets and even more so if you suffer from mental health problems.
It is a known fact that if you suffer from mental health problems you are more unlikely to give up using one of the mainstream programmes. One of the reasons why nicotine use is high in this group is that it helps to relieve feelings of stress, anxiety and low mood.
Organisations wishing to tender shall need to demonstrate
- Experience of delivering a smoking cessation programme to those who have mental health problems.
- The ability to delivery 250 4 week validated quits per year.
- How to engage this group recognising that one method will not work for all.
Other criteria will be stated in the Pre-Qualifying Questionnaire.
Time Frame
The trust aims to have a provider in place by September 2009.
Outcome
Consultancies that are selected from the PQQ will be issued with an Invitation to Tender (ITT). It is anticipated that the closing date ITT will be 5th June 2009.
