Southend makes £2.3m surplus

FINANCE: Southend University Hospital Foundation Trust made a surplus of £2.3m for the first four months of this financial year - £1m more than planned.

The surplus reflected higher than expected income, partly explained by work to clear a backlog of post-18 week waiters.

The trust did 5.7 per cent more non elective work than planned and elected and planned same day work was seven per cent above plan.
