Comment on: Nicholson: 'more' community focused care required
I'm unclear where the funding for this is to come from at a time of the Nicholson Challenge? Can't see it mentioned.
Comment on: Chief executives are running scared
Blair is right. But,just imagine what it is like for staff if that's how the Chief execs feel Even wose, just imagine what it is like to staff or managers who question or challenge their chief exec Worst of all just imagine what it is like if you raise a concern which imlicitly raises questions about how the Trust is run eg as a whistleblower Step forward, Sir David "partnership" Nicholson?
Comment on: Hunt: Unsafe staffing 'totally unacceptable'
What on earth does Jeremy Hunt mean give he wants to save £20 billions? Apparently nothing to do with him.
Comment on: Trust found to have altered waiting times figures
My local hospital. In A and E last Friday evening with my daughter. "Investigators found no proof that staff had been “pressurised to misreport data by managers” but added “we believe [pressure] came from a collective ‘sign up’ by senior managers to minimise breaches”." "The review was carried out by healthcare investigation firm Verita and will be discussed by the trust’s board on Friday. "It said no one individual was to blame but that a culture of misreporting had developed at Chase Farm." So who to hold to account? Did the chief Exec know and if not why now? Why did no one blow the whistle for a long time? What happened to the person who did? What culture led to collective lying? How will the Trust lkearn and ensure real openness and transparency? A good example of why the culture challenge is so deep and needs more than new policies post Francis?
Comment on: Sir David embraces partnership but 'hasn't given up on grip'
"Sir David Nicholson said the NHS reforms required him and other leaders to “relearn some of the things that we’ve taken for granted” and adopt a different “general approach”." He doesnt mention whether the Francis Report might say something about his management style - and that which has been encouraged (and often enforced) in large parts of the NHS. Is this a credible position?
Comment on: Local Healthwatch 'bound and gagged'
So, firstly Ministers fail to extend the Freedom of Information Act to private healthcare providers so we wont know what is going on in great swathes of services. Then they gag the local "consumer champions". I wonder if Robert Francis would like to amend his report to ensure a little more openness in what is happening to services?
Comment on: Redundancy threat for 3,500 NHS managers
Has anyone asked the NHS Commissioning Board what data they might have on the overall impact of this on black and ethnic minority staff or those with disabilities? Perhaps we could be told?
Comment on: Hunt: Francis could lead to more reorganisation
"Mr Hunt said he had been told about the letter received by the department but had not seen it" Really? What does he do wiuth his time?
Comment on: Hunt: I'm open to NHS or private sector solutions
Unfortunately for Jeremy Hunt, words come back to haunt. Some years aho he called for the NHS to be "denationalised" - just what the Health and Social Care Act is intended to. See http://t.co/JEs9q1IR The suggestion that he is neutral on this matter is about as convincing as the suggestion that he bought no preconceptions to his judgement on the BSB takover in his previous post
Comment on: Circle chief executive Ali Parsa steps down
Mr Parsa had been due to give evidence at a House of Commons public accounts committee hearing on the franchising of NHS trusts on Monday (10 December). Will he turn up?
