Comment on: Lord Darzi on the first year of high quality care for all
"At the core of my report was one simple yet radical idea: to put quality - defined as patient experience, clinical effectiveness and patient safety - at the heart of the NHS." What does he think every doctor and nurse has been trying to achieve ever since the time of Hippocrates? The fact that putting quality at the heart of the NHS can be considered as a radical idea shows just how far astray its management and policy direction has gone.

Comment on: David Peat on embracing NHS change
The biggest flaw in NHS management thinking is that "Change" has been conflated by its advocates with "improvement." Those of us with longer memories and some knowledge of history and medicine know that change is always happening, sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse. To my thinking most of the current changes being imposed on the NHS are deformations, not reformations.

Central credit and local blame again. So long as the DH wants to take the glory and dump the blame, then the number of people willing to be the patsy for the blame will diminish.

Comment on: GP quality: the final frontier for inspectors
Looking at this list at least this enquiry is looking at the right areas. I think the survey will get some interesting results and be very useful. It may free us from the tyranny of QOF. Or at least get measurements that go alongside QOF and so give a more sensible overall picture of what GPs do,
