I have just posted about this on "Welcome to the QUAD". If Mr Streets is to make a real difference at a difficult time politically and economically there is a need for a structured approach: http://hodges-model.blogspot.com/ http://hodges-model.blogspot.com/2009/05/congratulations-to-paul-streets-new.html Regards Hodges' Health Career - Care Domains - Model http://www.p-jones.demon.co.uk/ h2cm: help 2C more - help 2 listen - help 2 care http://twitter.com/h2cm

'Self management' by patients and carers demands self management by care professionals too. This is often realised through REFLECTION. There is a tool that can be used by professionals AND public to reflect personally or in a group context. Developed in the UK in health and social care at MMU this framework for care includes four care domains: SCIENCES; INTRAPERSONAL; SOCIOLOGY and POLITICAL. This may seem simplistic but do not under estimate this high-level port of entry. The model can readily cover ALL health and social care contexts. As per the objective here the model needs research. At present there is a website: http://www.p-jones.demon.co.uk/ that includes a chronology: http://www.p-jones.demon.co.uk/chron.htm Each care domain features a links resource: http://www.p-jones.demon.co.uk/linksTwo.htm and there is a blog 'Welcome to the QUAD': http://hodges-model.blogspot.com/ Regards Peter Jones http://twitter.com/h2cm

Hello, I really enjoyed this piece and the gift that provided a blog post in the need for: "... balance in individuals, teams, boards and systems." I've included a link to Mike's article: http://hodges-model.blogspot.com/2009/04/leadership-qualities-framework.html Regards Peter Jones http://twitter.com/h2cm

Hello Nadeem, [I tried to respond here to your very interesting post some 1,300 characters, but encountered a server error upon clicking 'Post'?] Your post is very interesting and as a nurse and blogger gave me much to think about. I have read before about people - esp. students having myspace and similar web profiles, which are often unsurprisingly 'off-the wall'. Words and pictures published there can come back and haunt them when they apply for jobs in the future. I ended up posting this on my own blog. To blog or not to blog - that is the question? http://hodges-model.blogspot.com/2008/09/to-blog-or-not-to-blog-that-is-question.html Many thanks for the inspiration and best wishes with your blogging.... In fact could I please ask a question of you? In your role to what extent have you been exposed - training, implementation... to the "Family Partnership Model" or similar ? Kind regards Peter Jones

Welcome Inside Out and HSJ to the blogsphere. Reading HSJ this week it looks like policy, NICE and regulation will be very closely tied. So perhaps not too great a distance to negotiate in order to join the dots? Timing - as ever - will be critical though! For help with the 4P's - policy, PURPOSE, practice and PROCESS - there is a conceptual framework developed in the UK that can help: http://hodges-model.blogspot.com/ Maybe we could swap links on the blog roll? Stay creative! Peter J
