Also missing from the list is Dr Ashwin Shah, a GP in Stratford, East London (London Borough of Newham), who was made an MBE. Dr Shah has been a GP in the borough for 32 years, where he practises with his wife, Sudha. His involvement in healthcare management has included being a board member of the former GP fundholding consortium, Newham Innercity Multifund, and then Vice-Chairman of the Newham Primary Care Group. Latterly, he was for five years Chairman of Newham Primary Care Trust's Professional Executive Committee and he is currently Chairman of the practice-based commissioning group, Newham Health Partnership, and serves on the Local Medical Committee.
