Self-care

With the support of the Department of Health’s 3millionlives programme, telehealth and telecare services are increasingly benefiting patients with long-term conditions. They are being encouraged to manage their own health and care, while providing the NHS with significant efficiency and cost savings.

Networking

With the healthcare technology industry booming, the Institution of Engineering and Technology is making a concerted effort to unite those working in the field to share knowledge and expertise. It is advancing the idea of “connected health” in order to establish new telehealth applications and possibilities in both the developed and developing world.

Offender health

Care UK, which is responsible for the provision of healthcare in prisons and young offender institutions in the North East region, is using telehealth to good effect to address the challenges and complexities involved in offering healthcare to those in custody.

Care in the community

Partnerships have been crucial to the success of Liverpool Community Health Trust’s new multidisciplinary care model, which uses telehealth to support patients to manage their own illness.
