Comment on: Chief executives are running scared
Thank you for the comments, both Douglas and I feel that these are important issues. I am doing some research in the social care field at the moment on similar issues (which will be published later in the year). Strip away all of the structures and ways of working there are related (but admittedly not exactly the same) pressures. Is there similar dread, fear and anxiety of leadership – no! At least not when it comes to looking over the shoulder. Any fear, dread and anxiety (as well as paradoxical feelings of and hope, drive and optimism) are directed towards the task in hand of delivering real improvements for members of society.

Comment on: Hospital trusts lack 'top drawer' leaders
Right, I’m going to take another tack here! Remember Shakespeare’s The Tempest, at the end the magician and spellmaster Prospero had the personal insight to break his staff, get rid of his powers and move on. The final few pages of Lord of the Rings, Gandalf and others realised that whatever change they brought about that they were not the right people to bring about future change. What if a few people in similar positions in the health system (David N?) had the same courageous personal insights? And then we can think about our new world and the talent we do have to meet these challenges.

Comment on: CQC chief Cynthia Bower resigns
A lot of really thoughtful comments. It is particulalry good that most of the views are focused on the challenges of the future than to pilery the past performance of people and organisations.
