Comment on: Media Watch: 'secret tipplers' and Scottish GPs
Have you ever sat in with a GP? Patients don't present with just one clearcut problem. To deal with drinking problems adequately without just ticking a box and dealing with all the other problems takes alot longer than the 10 minutes we have. We're taking enough short cuts as it is. It reminds me of teachers who are now expected to teach everything at school and solve all society's ills.

Comment on: Michael Dixon: NHS 'must focus on primary care' in recession
GPs in our practice arrive at 8am and leave at 7.30pm.They could not work harder. As general physicians, they are doing alot of old hospital work now but need longer appointments as many are getting burnt out. There are 2-3 x as many GPs per head of the population in France which is considered to be the best system in Europe in terms of patient satisfaction ( more expensive tho').

Comment on: Darzi's resignation
Did Darzi bring in GP extended hours? I thought it was bully Brown? It's not difficult to be a cynic in a clinic when politicians lie the whole time.
