Brighton & Hove City Teaching PCT invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified organisations and consortia for the provision of a pharmacy based community anticoagulation service across the city.

The coordinated service will be provided from a minimum of 15 community sites and skilled clinical backup must be available from a Consultant or GPwSI.

This will be a one stop service based on capillary blood tests and using near patient testing and Computer Decision Support Software results and dosing advice will be available in one clinic appointment. The organisation will take responsibility for providing and coordinating the community pharmacy based clinics, training staff, providing all equipment and internal and external clinical audit (NEQAS).

The current service is provided by the local acute trust and existing patients on anticoagulation therapy will be transferred over a period of time from to the new community service. The contract is for three years with an approximate start date of November 2008. Within the first year of the contract it is expected that new patients will be initiated on Warfarin by the community service.

Organisations wishing to submit a bid for providing this service should complete a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) by 18 June 2008.

Requests for the PQQ should be emailed to anti.coagulation@bhcpct.nhs.uk or posted to Jilly Alexander, Brighton & Hove Teaching PCT, Prestamex House, 171-173 Preston Road, Brighton BN1 6AG.
