Comment on: Welsh suicide prevention plan updated
MP for Bridgend Madeleine Moon has been doing remarkable work in Westminster, as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Suicide Prevention. I hope both mental health and public health leaders from across the UK will support the efforts of this Welsh MP and her dedicated Group.

Comment on: Unemployed told to kick benefits habit
Thank you Charlotte Santry and the HSJ for raising the importance of recent DWP proposals to 'reform' the benefit system for people with long term health needs, especially psychiatric 'cases'. These large scale changes could have an adverse impact on large number of people, with a variety of mental health problems. Professor Black's team wisely identified a pervasive issue around Stigma and mental disorders. Whatever legislation is rushed through a nervous Parliament during this time of economic slump, I implore policy-makers not to add more shackles of Stigma to a large population already recognised as the most socially excluded within our performance-obsessed 'World Class Economy'. The Greek origin of the word Economy implies everyone who is living in the same house.... in Britain we all share one small island.
