PERFORMANCE: The foundation trust this month recorded 65 breaches of the Department of Health’s guidelines on mixed sex accommodation, around 20 more than the previous month.

Latest data for July – based on returns from all 167 acute trusts in England – show the trust breached the guidelines on 65 occasions, compared with 41 in July, 123 in June and 88 in May.

Its breach rate – the number of breaches per 1,000 finished consultant episodes – was 6.2 for August.

By region, the majority of breaches, 346, were in NHS London followed by the NHS South East Coast with 271.

Along with Brighton, the worst offenders in the region were Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
