PERFORMANCE: Heatherwood and Wexham Park Foundation Trust achieved its four-hour accident and emergency target in November, but performance in the department remains “fragile”.
Board papers for December say: “Whilst we achieved the 4-hour target in November at 96.3% for the month, performance against some of the indicators remains fragile.”
The papers say: “Our failure to maintain bed capacity through efficient use of beds / timely discharge resulted in the trust ‘going on ambulance divert’ towards the end of November; significantly more patients were admitted to the trust than were discharged in the prior weekend.”
An ambulance divert was also put in place on 12 December, for similar reasons.
“Plans are in hand to establish closer working with the community providers and social services to facilitate patient transfer to community and care at home,” the papers say.
Performance against unplanned accident and emergency reattendance within seven days was over plan, at 6.54 per cent against a target of 5 per cent.
All referral to treatment indicators are worse than target.
