FINANCE: Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust is forecasting a surplus of £3.5m this financial year - £1.3m behind its original plans.

The reduction in the likely surplus has been accepted by the SHA as much of it is due to the cost of the mutually agreed resignation schemes. At the end of December the trust’s surplus was at £1.5m.

Unlike many trusts, it has been underperforming against its contracts with commissioners although this has started to improve and it hopes to finish the year at full contract value.
