STRUCTURE: A new community service for patients with aches and stiffness in their joints or muscles will be provided by Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust from this month.

PhysioHull is an alliance between GPs, hospital specialists and therapy services providing an easy to access Musculoskeletal (MSK) pathway.

In a press statement, the trust said patients will receive treatment from physiotherapists, podiatrists or osteopaths in a community setting, while some will be referred to hospital specialists, including orthopaedic and rheumatology consultants, for additional diagnostics or treatment.

The PhysioHull service will be a first point of contact for patients, over 16-years-old with aches and stiffness in their joints or muscles and will be provided in health centres across the west, north and east of Hull.

On initial referral patients will be given a first appointment within three weeks in a clinic which is convenient to them.

“The new service will provide faster access to expert care for patients with aches and stiffness in their joints or muscles,” the trust said.
