WORKFORCE: London North West Healthcare Trust has appointed Dame Jacqueline Docherty as its new chief executive.
The organisation, previously known as North West London Hospitals Trust, will be led by Dame Jacqueline after the current chief executive David McVittie retires in April.
Dame Jacqueline is currently chief executive of West Middlesex University Hospital Trust.
London North West Healthcare Trust merged in October with Ealing Hospital Trust, which also ran the community services for the London boroughs of Brent, Harrow and Ealing.
West Middlsex University Hospitals Trust is still expected to be acquired by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust this year, despite the departure of the latter’s chief executive Tony Bell in November.
In December the acquisition was cleared by the Competition and Markets Authority, which succeeded the Office for Fair Trading and the Competition Commission.
HSJ understands ther acquisition will go ahead in July, having been delayed by the election “purdah” period, which bans public bodies from making announcements that could have political implications in the run-up to an election.
Chelsea and Westminster was chosen over Imperial College Healthcare Trust to take over West Middlesex and the move will create an organisation with a turnover of more than £500m.
