The NHS is currently addressing a £30bn hole in its finances. The Five Year Forward View, published in 2014, made clear that the NHS requires £8bn of additional funding during this parliament to meet demand and transform service delivery through new care models.

George Osborne’s spending review last year confirmed that this money will be frontloaded to prevent standards from slipping and services from deteriorating.

However, in return, the NHS must find £22bn of efficiency savings. Never before in the history of the NHS has it had to save so much. This is an unprecedented figure and represents unchartered territory for those working in the NHS.

The HSJ Value in Healthcare Awards seek to recognise and reward outstanding efficiency and improvement by the NHS. The Value in Healthcare Awards recognise excellent use of resources. But they also seek out examples of demonstrable improvement in outcomes, both within back office functions and improvements in care.

HSJ has created the Value in Healthcare Congress for NHS leaders who are developing and delivering improvement programmes. This very practical conference has been designed to address to the priorities of clinical and non-clinical departments at both providers and commissioners.

Over the course of one day delegates will access 12 unique sessions, 36 live case studies, 1,080 minutes of learning from award winning and shortlisted content.

Every presentation originates from HSJ’s awards programmes and has been chosen by judges with a deep experience of what the NHS must do to better serve patients and service users.

Presenters will talk about their project’s successes and failures as well as guiding delegates step by step on how they can receive board level backing for their ideas.
