PERFORMANCE: The east London commisioning body’s performance report showed a decline in the number of women who had seen a midwife or maternity healthcare professional within 12 weeks of pregnancy.
The primary care trust is now predicting a year-end figure of 71 per cent against a target of 90 per cent. In 2009-10 it scored 79 per cent against a target of 80 per cent in this measure.
The appointments are so mums-to-be can be risk-assessed and discuss their choices.
The first three quarters of the financial year just finished saw performances of 73, 74 and 71 per cent for quarters one, two and three, respectively.
In 2009-10 performance was at 81, 79 and 80 per cent across the first three quarters of the year.
