About Marie Curie Cancer Care
Marie Curie Cancer Care gives people with all terminal illnesses the choice to die at home. Our nurses provide them and their families with free hands-on care and emotional support, in their own homes, right until the end.
As a trusted provider of end of life services, Marie Curie works collaboratively with local healthcare systems and commissioners to offer flexible, efficient services and seamless models of care, which benefit both the local care provider and their patients.
There are 2,000 Marie Curie nurses out in the community covering 96 per cent of the UK’s population.
An independent Nuffield Trust study of 30,000 Marie Curie Nursing Service patients found that only 12 per cent had an emergency hospital admission while under our care compared with 35 per cent of patients in an individually matched control group. Three quarters of patients we cared for died at home compared with 35 per cent in the control group.
