PERFORMANCE: NHS Swindon missed the target that 94 per cent of patients receiving radiotherapy after treatment should do so within 31 days, by almost 20 percentage points during 2010-11.
The performance report showing the position at year end presented to May’s board meeting revealed just 75 per cent of patients had received follow up during the alloted time period. The problems were largely due to a lack of workforce capacity at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital.
The report states: “This remains a significant cause of concern and we continue to investigate all breaches at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital and are working with lead commissioners to address these.”
Additional resources are in place for 2011-12.
