PERFORMANCE: University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust was marginally below the 95 per cent standard for patients treated within four hours in A&E in December.

This was a decline on November when it was over 97 per cent.

The board heard that Bristol Royal Infirmary had seen an 18 per cent rise in attendances in December compared with November.

“A lack of beds was the major cause of breaches of the four hour standard,” the report said. Action taken includes trying to ensure a minimum number of beds are available for admissions early in the day.
