FINANCE: The primary care trust is facing a “probable” deficit of £4.5m in 2011-12, according to its cluster’s latest finance report.
A table showing the best case, worst case and probable outturn figures for each of the cluster’s three PCTs highlighted “high risk of overspend at Warrington Primary Care Trust and the high risk of under spend at Wirral Primary Care Trust”, the NHS Cheshire Warrington and Wirral report stated.
Warrington faced a worst case deficit of £11m, a probable deficit of £4.5m and a “best case” surplus of £1.5m – the figure it had agreed with the strategic health authority.
Wirral faced a best case surplus of £14m and a probable surplus of £8m - £6m higher than its planned surplus for the year
