WORKFORCE: The mental health trust has announced plans to cut the posts from the famous high-secure facility in Berkshire.
A report to the trust’s board said: “Following the national decision to decommission Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder services in health, commencing with services in Broadmoor Hospital, and the reduction of commissioned beds for the hospital to 210 from April 2012, it is necessary to reduce the workforce.
“The trust is keen to ensure that this downsizing exercise is conducted as sensitively as possible and this paper proposes a methodology to achieve this. The trust would like to avoid compulsory redundancies and the following proposals should certainly minimise such redundancies. The extent to which the trust is able to achieve its preference will depend entirely on matching the desires of individuals with the future needs of the service.”
Fifty-two nursing posts will be cut, along with 34 healthcare assistants, three consultants psychiatrists and five psychologists.
