STRUCTURE: The primary care trust looks set to cluster with other trusts in Sussex, including Brighton, as part of plans being drawn up by NHS South East Coast.
The 2011-12 NHS operating framework says by June 2011 that PCTs must be organised into clusters with an appointed cluster chief executive and executive team.
Following conversations with PCT chairs and chief executives across the region, strategic health authority chief executive Candy Morris has advised that the overwhelming consensus for the region was for three clusters, covering: Kent and Medway; East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove; and Surrey.
Further information is expected by the end of January 2011 about how the process will be carried out and where people and functions will sit.
