Royal Surrey FT: Drive Through Glaucoma Service

This was the development of a novel “drive through” service for suspected/confirmed glaucoma, a potentially blinding eye disease that often only shows symptoms in the advanced stages. Any sight loss as a result is irreversible. Its main risk factor for progression is high intraocular pressure. During covid, only patients deemed urgent were seen face-to-face, with large numbers of glaucoma patients’ appointments being rescheduled or switched to a telephone appointment that is of little use in this cohort of patients. As our patients could not come to the clinic, we took the clinic to the car park for drive-through risk stratification.
