Imperial College Healthcare Trust has hired a primary care trust chief executive to lead its work to become an integrated healthcare organisation.

Kevin Barton has joined on secondment from NHS Lambeth. Imperial is seeking to join with GPs to create a provider in the mould of a US healthcare management organisation.

Lambeth deputy chief executive Andrew Eyres has become interim chief.

Separately, Imperial has begun integrating its cardiovascular and respiratory services with Royal Brompton and Harefield Foundation Trust. They will undertake joint research and create joint working units and programmes.

NHS Surrey has hired Anne Walker, present chief at NHS Hertfordshire, as its chief executive. Public health director Jane Halpin will be interim chief.

King’s College Hospital Foundation Trust has appointed Sir George Alberti, a diabetes expert and former national clinical director for emergency care, as a non-executive director.
