Salisbury Foundation Trust chief executive Matthew Kershaw has been appointed director of provider delivery at the Department of Health.
Mr Kershaw, who has been seconded to the DH post for 12 months from 8 Novermber, will help to develop and then lead the implementation of the provider aspects of the white paper. This will include work on the progression of all trusts to foundation status and the future role of Monitor.
The trust’s director of operations Peter Hill has been appointed interim chief executive for the period Mr Kershaw is away, though the trust said he would be kept informed on developments at the foundation.
Mr Kershaw will report to the managing director of provider development and work Ian Dalton.
Salisbury Foundation Trust chair Luke March said: “This is a crucial national role and Matthew has been appointed to this post because of his experience here, and previously in other trusts and the Department of Health.
“Under Matthew we have continued to develop across the board, providing the best possible quality of care, achieving national targets and outcomes, while remaining financially strong. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Matthew for his leadership in his time here at Salisbury so far.”
Mr Kershaw joined the trust on 1 August 2008. He was previously chief operating officer at East Kent Hospitals University Trust.
