South Warwickshire General Hospitals Trust’s re-application for NHS foundation trust status has been accepted by Monitor, the independent regulator.
The trust’s application will be discussed at Monitor’s January board meeting, with a provisional authorisation date of 1 February.
Trust chief executive Glen Burley said: “The foundation trust model will ensure that our members and governors have substantially greater involvement in the work of the trust and have a bigger say in its future direction.
“This new model will also offer the trust more control over how the hospitals are run and financed, with more flexibility to allow us to invest our resources wisely, get better value for money and offer better patient care.”
The trust serves a community of 270,000. It employs 2,200 staff and provides a range of day care, inpatient, outpatient and maternity services.
