WORKFORCE: Airedale Foundation Trust has appointed consultant colorectal surgeon Karl Mainprize as its executive medical director.
He will take up his post on 3 June and will be based at Airedale Hospital.
He replaces Andrew Catto, who left the left the trust in February to become executive medical director at the Heart of England Foundation Trust.
Dr Mainprize was previously deputy medical director at York Hospitals Foundation Trust. He practiced at Scarborough Hospital for almost ten years, where he helped develop the hospital’s endoscopy service.
Prior to becoming a consultant in 2001, he took on a fellowship in bowel cancer research at Oxford for four years.
Dr Mainprize said: “I am delighted with my new appointment and I am looking forward to working closely with my new colleagues to enhance the services Airedale provides to commissioners and for the local community.
“I am interested in developing technology to improve communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams and believe we can do more to design our service around patients’ needs.”
