STRUCTURE: New £6.4 million emergency department will improve privacy and bring dignity for vulnerable older patients, the foundation trust’s chief executive says.
Airedale Foundation Trust’s new emergency department is now open to patients – with features such as separate adult and children’s waiting areas and a quiet room for friends and families during stressful events.
Chief executive Bridget Fletcher praised governors and volunteers who have contributed to raising ‘thousands of pounds’ to add to the Trust’s £6.4m outlay. She added: “There will be better privacy and dignity for vulnerable older patients, and their families and carers. We are thrilled with our much improved facilities and that they have been completed on schedule ready for use this winter – our busiest time of the year.”
