STRUCTURE: A £2.8m refurbishment of the outpatients department at Ashford Hospital is scheduled to begin on 13 August, according to board papers.
Andrew Liles, chief executive of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is a major capital project and will be the biggest development within the trust for some considerable time.
“The new department will provide a modern, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and visitors; walls will be opened out and glazed to give more natural light and external views and will help patients and visitors orientate themselves more easily around the department,” he told the board in his latest report.
He added: “The programme of works will be carried out in five phases of varying lengths. A phased approach will enable the department to deliver an uninterrupted service although some clinics may have to move temporarily, with disruption kept to a minimum.”
