PERFORMANCE: Avon and Wiltshire Partnership Trust is holding a series of patient and public engagement events, following the publication of a highly critical report of the trust’s governance.

“Let’s get Engaged!” events are being held across the six primary care trust areas covered by the trust during August and September. In a press release the trust said the events were part of a “renewed drive to put service users and carers at the heart of the organisation”.

An independent review of the trust’s governance, completed in January but published last week, found although the trust attempted to engage with service users and carers its methods were not always effective. It described the culture as “centralist” and “bureaucratic”.

The trust is now under new leadership after the chair and chief executive left ahead of the report’s publication.

Its press release said: “The sessions will look at how AWP currently involves people in its work and makes sure their views are taken into account. Ideas will be sought on how involvement can be improved and how things can be done differently.
