WORKFORCE: Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership has produced a new anti-bullying and harassment policy because of reports of ‘unacceptable’ abuse and bullying in the NHS staff survey.

The survey showed that 27 per cent of trust staff reported being harassed, bullied or abused by colleagues over the previous year.

Forty-two per cent of staff said they would recommend the trust as a place to work, while 48 per cent said they would be happy for friends or relatives to be treated there.

Chief executive Iain Tulley said: “To see in black and white that we still have staff experiencing harassment, bullying or abuse from fellow staff is an unacceptable state of affairs. The fact that so many of our colleagues would still not recommend the trust as a place to work or receive treatment is equally unacceptable.”

Managers will be given training to help recognise and deal with bullying, said Mr Tulley.
