WORKFORCE: The troubled east London trust has appointed Mike Gill, from Newham University Hospital, as its new medical director.
He replaces Stephen Burgess in the role, having been at Newham since 2002.
Mr Burgess has a new role looking at the trust’s “long term strategy”.
Chief executive Averil Dongworth said: “Mike has an exceptional knowledge of the clinical challenges facing this trust and the local community, through his long experience at a neighbouring trust and the major role he played in the review of services across the area.
“I would also like to pay tribute to our outgoing medical director Stephen Burgess who, over the last year has overseen a major improvement programme in patient care through implementation of our CQC action plan. I am pleased that he has agreed to take on a new role leading the development of our long term clinical strategy, addressing the clinical challenges of service reconfiguration.”
