WORKFORCE: A new chair has been appointed at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust.

The NHS Trust Development Authority has appointed Sir Peter Dixon to the organisation, which ended 2011-12 with a deficit of £50m on a turnover of £419m and has had clinical problems.

Sir Peter has experience chairing hospital trusts, having held the role at University College London Hospitals Foundation Trust, Colchester Hospitals University Foundation Trust and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Foundation Trust.

BHRUT’s interim chair George Wood is joining the board of NHS London.
