STRUCTURE: Haringey Council has approved an outline planning application for a huge redevelopment of the St Ann’s Hospital site in Haringey to provide new mental health inpatient facilities.

The project also involves selling a large amount of “surplus” land for the building of 470 family homes.

“The next stage will be applying for approval from the NHS Trust Development Authority and for detailed planning permission later this year for the new mental health facilities,” said Maria Kane, chief executive of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, which runs St Ann’s Hospital.

The new patient services should be available in 2018, she added.
