FINANCE: Bedford Hospital Trust will need to make cost reductions totalling £16.9m in 2012-13 just to break even.
A report to the trust’s board outlined the proposals for savings - £6m of which are still to be identified.
The proposed budget would allow the trust to break even and meet other minimum standards but would not be fully compliant with the governance of a foundation trust.
“Further strategic discussions are required to finalised the longer term governance and corporate structure for the management of acute services currently provided by the trust,” said the report,
