PERFORMANCE: Berkshire Healthcare FT has taken action to address delays in reporting incidents on wards in response to concerns raised by the Care Quality Commission.
The trust provides specialist care for people with ongoing or complex mental health issues, substance misuse problems and some learning disabilities in seven locations across Berkshire and one in Oxfordshire.
It was told to take urgent action to address lapses in the reporting of incidents such as physical abuse and harassment between patients after the CQC found it was failing to meet the required standards.
The issue was highlighted in an inspection of one ward catering for elderly patients at St Mark’s Hospital in Maidenhead in December.
The problem was found to be widespread across the trust and the CQC order the trust to take urgent action.
A subsequent inspection found the trust is now complying with the rules on reporting.
The CQC also found the trust had failed to meet standards on the monitoring of quality and performance and in two other areas and ordered the trust to make improvements.
