FINANCE: NHS Birmingham East and North is overspent by £9.7m against plan.
This is driven by approximately £9.1m of increased activity and £0.6m by increase in cost.
Emergencies, electives and outpatients are all contributing to this overspend.
Emergencies are overspent by £2.4m year to date. There were £4.3m excess bed days to month eight
Electives are overspent by £2.5m year to date. £2m is attributable to day cases with the largest overspends against orthopaedics, general surgery, ophthalmology and urology.
£0.5m is due to inpatient electives, with the largest overspend against orthopaedics.
Outpatients are overspent by £2.8m year to date. The largest over-performances are in orthopaedics, dermatology, paediatrics, gynaecology and ophthalmology.
