STRUCTURE: Commissioners across Blackpool and Lancashire will next month begin public consultation on a major reconfiguration of community inpatient services across the Fylde coast.

According to a report to the NHS Lancashire cluster of primary care trusts, the long-awaited consultation is due to begin on 16 March.

The report states that the consultation will lead the consultation, as inpatient community services are predominantly provided by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.

“As the review is likely to result in major service change, the development of the consultation plan has followed test 4 of the ‘Lansley 4 tests of service reconfiguration’,” the report states.

The tests set out by health secretary Andrew Lansley require any reconfiguration to have a clear clinical evidence base, promote choice, win support of GP commissioners, and genuinely engage the public, patients and local authorities.
